Polytechnic Recordings is fast becoming prolific in terms of the volume of their recent releases, and to be fair the quality has been pretty good too. Perhaps there is a correlation between the amount of passing yards from hometown QB Jay Cutler and the number of releases on the imprint! 100 yards per release perhaps? Anyway I digress! This release comes from Samy Fresh and is entitled "Summer." We are treated to Yura Popov, Overcast and Python remixes. The original mix is a chunky progressiv

Deepsessions Recordings are a growing Greek imprint, and this latest 3 track EP comes from Cristian R. Greece has a fine reputation for producing decent progressive artists, so its good to see a label rise from the Mediterranean country too.Opening up the EP is "Deserts," a neat progressive track with tight drums and subtle strings. Not an outstanding track, but one that is very tidy indeed, a solid start to the EP.Next is "Flight Intense", which is in a similar style to "Desert" - a tidy progressive wit

Bellarine's hyperactive pre-Xmas activity continues here with this release from Viza. A two track EP is on show with tracks "Damage" and "Who's Here."Damage starts brightly with a solid analogue bassline coupled with some nice bleeps and sweeps. Crisp production values are also on show, with the bassdrum compressed and providing a strong base for the track. It's a solid number, but nothing out of the ordinary.Who's Here is helped by a good bassline holding the production together. It could

I'm willing to go out on a limb by betting that Derek Howell is probably the only Texas resident that can truthfully say he's released music for labels such as Global Underground, Bedrock, Hope Recordings, Proton Music, Fade Music, Morrison Recordings and Groovecollection. Derek has built up quite a stunning resume over the past few years, and with due reason; the guy is an incredible talent, knowing no stylistic boundaries. After a string of releases (and many more to follow) on Polytechnic Recordings, Der

The latest installment of the Deepsessions Greek progressive experience has arrived. Cristos Fourkis is the artist who brings us the "Dreamcatcher EP", a 4 mix package of Mediterranean progressive sounds. The original mix sounds solid enough, a subtle atmospheric progressive vibe is clearly on show here.Second up we have the K-Mass remix. This is a more driving mix, with a smart bassline giving the track energy. Cool atmospherics are on show again here, and this mix is definitely a good one.

As the release info states this is definitely a trip back in time! A really nice change up here from Olaris. TwoPlay's "Trippin" is good quality progressive trance that isn't over the top or ostentatious.Best mix on the release would have to be the Royal Dance Rmx. It could easily cross-over from trance sets to progressive sets. You could really start a peak-time set chuggin' with this one.Royal Sapien's Rmx really rounds the release out nicely. It's very reminiscent of early 90's Depeche M

By far one of my favorite production outfits and purveyors of top notch house music, Kris B v Nosmo bring us "Yes We Did." Albeit, the election of Barack Obama was incredibly historical and well deserving of tribute. Nosmo and Kris B nailed this track from start to finish.A sophisticated, yet highly driving track that builds in relation to the meaning of the words and takes the listener on a "hopeful" journey. As the synth stabs build and drop with precise placement the chords begin to evolve and provide an incredibly up

2007 was a breakthrough year for Ready Mix Records, which is now widely regarded as one of the most consistent labels in the industry. Stan Kolev's first solo release on RMR, "Don't Be", was one of the imprint's top tunes last year, thanks to it's enchanting vocals and rhythmic chords. So to end 2008 on a high note, Ready Mix has given Hungarian duo Marrakech the opportunity to bring a progressive anthem back to life.Having previously done remixes for widely respected imprints such as Proton Music, Tilth

Moonbeam has always carried an impressive sound, a unique and driving confluence of beauty and aggressive atmospheres. This time around we have Moonbeam featuring Blackfeel Wite - "Your Wind Is In My Hands" However, the vocal in this track seems out of element and lacks an "organic feel." The dub mix as well as the Ramon Tapia Dub are my picks out of the pack. Ramon did a nice job developing a techy and tension building take on the original with a solid arrangement. Would most definitely play this versi

Back in August, Nuhar Records' co-founder Paolo Driver came through with his smash hit, "Ok Samba"; a feverishly funky tune which still lies comfortably on Beatport's Tech House chart, to this day. Paolo recently joined forces with label-mates (and fellow Italians) Dende and Macs Cortella, to work on Samba's follow-up release, aptly titled "Ok Tango."An old cliché states that the sequel can never top the original, but Nuhar may be putting that one to rest here. "Ok Tango" is one of thos

No Border Recordings are based in Jena, Germany. The artist on show here is Vinylsurfer and the release titled "Deep Blue Sky." 3 mixes are unveiled, each hitting a different style or sub genre, let's hope!Firstly there is the original chillout mix - it's slightly unusual that the original should be chillout track, but the sounds and production on show here are definitely likable. Very Ibiza, Punta Del Este, Thailand or Greek Islands, dependent on your holiday preference!Second up is the Club Mix,

Jacco@Work and Bellarine continue their progressive advance with this new track titled "Make You Want To Cry." A somber title, but will the music make you gloomy too? We're doubtful that will be the case, especially considering COU Muzik and Diego Mongelos are on remix duties. The original mix is a solid enough number, tight drums and bassline help set up a driving progressive moment which would hold most floors. Not outstanding, but a good start to the release nonetheless.Second up is the

Swordtail has been a consistently good label over the last couple of years. The Australian imprint has been leading the way with Bellarine Recordings for the Aussie progressive sound, with strong assistance from Kasey Taylor's classic Vapour imprint. This release comes from Jay Smith and is entitled "Northern Lights."The original is a neat progressive track which cruises along with some warm sweeps and a metallic bassline. Production standard is high too, definitely a good start to the release. The

New York based System Recordings and LA’s intrepid DJ Thee-O, in the guise of Reef Project, team up to bring us ”Hydrodynamic,” a cool chillout and downtempo album with an oceanic theme and a cinematic vibe. The undersea journey begins with a soothing melodic, beatless intro, followed by the muted clicky rhythms and dreamy atmosphere of Tide Pools, a type of tune one might hear in contemporary film and game soundtracks. Already we’re offered a glimpse into the diverse soundscape cruise we're about to embark

Proton Music’s new remix pack of Uroš Umek’s ”Centre of Gravity” offers another look at the talents of the great Slovenian producer, this time though the eyes of some new names in the dance genre.A quick run down then, starting with the Centre of Gravity Paronator Remix. The pattern intros with a stripped down melody, taking more of a tech look on this, but offers some fair poke to the track too.Next up, Centre of Gravity Limbos Remix filters in from a lower bitrate, nasty with attit

The growing Quimika Records imprint brings us their latest chapter, with Darren Flecta the artist in question. 4 mixes of solid progressive gear awaits, with 3 mixes from Darren and 1 from recent label addition, Los Angeles' DJ Thee-O.The Hydro original mix kicks off proceedings; this is a really nice progressive track, well produced with plenty of depth of sound on show. A decent start, and a good track to re-edit, which bodes well for the next few mixes.Darren Flecta's In The Groove Mix is a sol

Osictone just keeps melding more and more genres together and it's brilliant. “Orange,” out on Invision Digital, is a lush, lush, mix of 90’s progressive house, deep house, and even, oddly enough, some faint disco-house. It’s definitely a track that could be dropped at any time given the right setting. You can close your eyes and just hear either mix going off at 5 a.m. at the after-hours club. The deep, dark, sweaty throb of the bassline; club packed to the hilt; so hot you almost can't breath; and Orange starts to fade in out of the di

California's Dynamic Musik presents us with this 3 track Bit Crushers EP, titled "What She Said." Now, you would think with a name as cool as Bit Crushers this release would just crush the club (all puns intended). Unfortunately it falls short, and as far as tech-house goes, there's nothing new to be found here. What She Said is a decent track with decent remixes, but that being said, there's nothing new or fresh here. Rock solid productions and execution on this electro infused pack, but like a lot of elect

As the title of the track says, "Love will find you" and it sure has, with this release from Direct Drive Digital. Paul Anthony & ZXX must be larger than life at the moment because time after time they are releasing quality electro house; whether it be down and dirty or just rocking, this duo always comes up with the goods.Unlike their last remix for Dj Alex Kidd, with its dirty squelchy bassline and driving vocal hook, Love will find you serves up a haunting piano riff reminiscent of the The Exorcist theme. Even more fr

Well known Jersey Channel Islands based artist, Marc Mitchell is famous particularly for his Sunday Club project in the 1990s with Stuart King. Their productions in that guise emerged on big progressive labels of the time like Stress, Perfecto and Limbo Records.Proton Music brings his latest single titled "Souls on Board" with three mixes on show, a "Main Mix," "Dub Mix," and "Ambient Mix" - a textbook set of mixes in which should be a strong release. The Main Mix is well produced with a solid bassline ac
