hi everyone...

Ive got cdj800s but they keep breaking on me icon_sad.gif so thinking of saving up and changing them. Is it worth going for anything other than the cdj range? eg stanton, denon, technics? anyone use any of them - what are your opinions???

thanks guys

I use numark axis 2 they rock... but i think its good you got some practice with pioneers since they are the players youll find more often at gigis.

Yeah the pioneers do seem to be the 'industry standard' kinda thing.
I was just interested what people thought about any of the others because i cant decide by just trying them in a shop as they all take a while to get used to before you realise the good/bad points.

I had the 800s and they worked perfectly for me....how did you 'break' them?

Anyway, recently upgraded to the 1000s and it's a whole new world! I'm glad I learned on the 800s too, the crossover was flawless, but the 1000s really are way, way better than the 800s (and they should be at double the price!).

well they wernt really mine - a friends who never got to use them much. a few mths ago 1 then the other stopped reading CDs (while he had them thank god) he got them fixed (not cheap) and theyve just broke again. Hes contacted Pioneer over this and they said something about when they were fixed last the lasers should have been realigned or something, and only registered pioneer dealer/repairers have the software to do this. The place my mate went to isnt a registered pioneer dealer......maybe theres a lesson to be learned from this !? icon_wink.gif

so hes now gotta pay AGAIN to get them fixed properly icon_cry.gif

Anyway i just got a set of CDJ800 MK2s and theyre better than his MK1s because theyve got shiny silver buttons instead of grey ones!!!!! icon_smile.gif icon_lol.gif icon_biggrin.gif

I use a pair of axis 9's to. Good value for money, theyre alot cheaper than the pioneer ones bt they still have a few effects & loops and are better than anything else in that price range. Not being able to read mp3s suck but theyre still good value. icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

yeah, true, they do well for the price. i think i've killed the play button on one though from restarting loops endlessly, it's gone sticky and you have to really belt the button to get it to do anything. well annoying.

Nice! I've got my first setup> 2 CDJ 200's and a Numark DXM-600. I did a lot of research before buying and I have to say I'm very happy with both. But when I move to lets say a CDJ 1000 will it be like having to learn to DJ again or what?

Don't worry bro, CDJ1000 can dj by themselves for you , xD

Nope, CDJ1000 will take you to another dimension. The jog wheel is VERY precise and you can adjust widely its behaviour to your dj habits icon_biggrin.gif.

They are very expensive but.... they're a extreme battlehorses.

I own a pair of cdj800mk2 that i bought after sold my cdj200's and all this time i've been very happy with the pioneer cdj's.
So... you don't need to learn again, this kind of cdj's will help you improve your skills
Anyway they don't make magic!!, icon_twisted.gif
Peace for u, my bro.

I agree with what the others said about needing to have experience on the panasonics due to them being in almost every club/bar on the planet BUT.

I sold my pioneer after having a play on the technics SLDZ1200, the techies feel much more like vinyl than the panasonics, the Numark mentioned above are great too, pthey also give that analogue vinyl feel.

pioneers are too easy to mix on, but in saying that I feel I have more controll with the technics or even the numark i had a play with.

sooo true !! i've used CDJ 1000's at a club and da ham, they do all the work for you!! beat matching is much easier and more accurate than CD 100's or CMX 3000. an awesome piece of machinery it is..... icon_biggrin.gif

Don't EVER compare a numark to a Pioneer again. don't even compare a numark to a "panasonic" either, lol.
