depends on how much your playing out with the files.
wav is the way to go, i know they're a £1 more expensive and take up more room on hdd but storage is peanuts nowadays and you'll be glad you opted for wavs if your going to play out.

To be honest it won't make much difference. Just remember to pick one format and stay with it. When you start mixing wavs with mp3s is when things get dicey.

Well i always use 320K and i must say it sounds great! Pėrhaps if you are resident or something in a big club, wavs can be worht the while...But i don't see how it could be a huge difference since it allready sounds great in 320 k

But the listener has to be paying pretty close attention, AND have a very good ear to be able to hear the difference. Especially if they don't have side-by-side reference, or familiarity with the track. With many recordings, the original fidelity aint that great anyways.
You could do .wav's, but it really doesn't seem worth the hassle, to me. Not enough return on your invested time, money, or effort.

You can pick up a TB for £100 nowadays, plus the price is coming down.. you'd want to have a backup though, maybe another TB disk in RAID or a NAS.
You could always compress them down to FLAC if you were that way inclined (well, if you were burning to CD.. Maybe Ableton / Traktor supports it, if they don't they should!)
Some shops sell FLACs anyway... that's the way to go really. Lossless compression ahoy!
Getting cheaper to do it everyday.. if you've got the outlay to spend that much on tunes, you should have the outlay to have a storage/backup plan

Why would you need a couple of extra gigs of RAM?

Some programs load the song into ram, I think. That's a lot of usage.
