If you don't have any other means of sending signal from your Technics to your desktop then yeah I say it would be a good deal.

Of course, depending on how many records you'll be converting you might be better off buying their digital counterparts and save some money.

or you can keep the vinyls, buy digital or vinyl releases, and set up a vinyl-cd-pc setup to make the sets even more diverse and challenging...

Too much effort. He can pay the 100 bucks for the USB turntable, convert his records, and spend more money on digi downloads instead of having to buy two 1200's.

Why do you need a USB? I plug the output of my turntable into an 1/8 inch stereo adapter, plug that into my soundcard, and then use audacity to rip the track. Don't see where the need for a usb comes in.
Unless your soundcard doesn't have a line-in circuit, I guess.

and the mixer-to-line-in cable costs 3 euros
if u wanna spend money senslesly on music stuff atleast buy something interesting, like a parrot trained to mc and bring him on gigs
u could probably buy a ugly one (whod notice in the dark of the club?) for 30e and train him yourself. ud still have 17e left for a bag of condoms and a lollypop

sell the vinyls and get the digital releases.don't waste your money on that thing..i was thinking about doing something similar when i sold my decks but weighed out all the options and if you're thinking about converting(not sure if you are) then just do it that way.....or if you're not then do what emerson does if you've got a soundcard....Audacity is FREEE

That's actually pretty smart, just make sure that before you sell them you can find them in digital form.

I've heard the the USB turntables have issues with keeping the platter spinning at a constant rate. Even with a good turntable has small increases and decreases in rotation speed. This results in your recorded file having small tempo changes which making warping the track in programs like Ableton much more time consuming when compared to a track that you would download from somewhere like ReasonantVibes.com. If you then have a turntable that has even more problems maintaining the rotation speed, your recordings will be even worse in terms of tempo making the warping process that much more difficult.
If you can, like was said, purchase the tracks again digitally. They'll sound better than recorded vinyl and they'll warp WAY more easily. If you have a ton of stuff that's rare and you can't find it digitally, I would guess you would have a decent turntable in the first place.

don't forget the most important thing about analog to digital recording... NOISE.
I'd want to know what kind of converters that thing is using, and signal to noise ratio. otherwise you are prone to get a nice, warm HISSSSSSSSS across your newly recorded vinyl rip. Even on my MOTU 828 when I capture vinyl I still end up doing a little noise reduction on the recorded .wav, so I can't imagine for 100$ theres great converters in it.
