The artist in the Spotlight for this month is Mike Koglin. Dancive.com got up close and personal with him. Here's what Mike Koglin had to say...

Dancive.com - How would you describe the sound of Mike Koglin?
Mike Koglin - Itīs probably best described as tech-trance, i like my music driving and energetic, with not too many long breakdowns. But I do play the occasional vocal trancer too though, but generally i like the tougher variety of trance, and iīm quite fond of electro-trance too.

Dancive.com - How did this magical journey start?
Mike Koglin - It all began in 1990, when i moved from my hometown in Germany to London where I worked as a recording engineer and programmer for a while. But I soon signed my own tracks to UK labels, I guess the best known one is still The Silence which was released on Multiply in ī98 and entered the Top20 chart.

Dancive.com - Name a few artist's who have played a very important role in your career?
Mike Koglin - Guess my next door neighbors in the studio, Above+Beyond, have played a big part in recent years. Anjunabeats have released several tracks of mine, and Iīve done collaborations with Jono and Paavo, and also Mark Pledger and Matt Hardwick.

Dancive.com - Who is your favorite dj & producer
Mike Koglin - I think Nic Chagall is on fire at the moment.

Dancive.com - You have been all around the world , name your top 3 clubs?
Mike Koglin - I think Circus in L.A. is brilliant, Club Pobeda in Russia, and Ministry Of Sound in London.

Dancive.com - Your current top track that receives a lot of playtime from you?
Mike Koglin - Itīs probably the new cover version of Cafe Del Mar by Michael Woods, totally awesome track.

Dancive.com - Dj's to watch out for in the future
Mike Koglin - Watch out for Arcane Science, two brothers from England

Dancive.com - Your most embarrassing moment?
Mike Koglin - Hitting the īstopībutton on the wrong CDJ in Seattle last year, and silencing the whole club for about 10 seconds that way icon_wink.gif

Dancive.com - Any advice to give upcoming artist's
Mike Koglin - Work with a mate, it could be either a dj, producer or musician. itīs more fun and the result is usually better too.

Dancive.com - What kind of music did you grow up with?
Mike Koglin - I grew up with electronic music right from the start, things like Kraftwerk , Jean-Michel Jarre and all the 80īs synth bands.

Dancive.com - Any experiences in your career that stand out in time.
Mike Koglin - There are quite a few scenes that will always stick in my mind, like my first dj gig in Japan, and some festivals like the Love Parade. Also being nominated for a Grammy, that was quite a shock icon_wink.gif

Dancive.com - Can you really say you have done it all? What are your plans for the future?
Mike Koglin - I haven't even done half yet! There are still loads of goals to be achieved, and many many tracks to be made. Iīm working on a couple of vocal tracks right now, and the new Noys Music compilation CD will be finished next month. We will also launch our new electro-house label īiTronicī this summer .

Dancive.com - Your Indian experience
Mike Koglin - I love coming to India, Iīve done 5 gigs so far which were all great fun, and I hope to be back really soon.

Dancive.com - Names of a few of your upcoming releases?
Mike Koglin - Look out for my remix of Coldplay - Viva La Vida. Iīm not sure yet if it will ever be released properly, but as Paul Van Dyk, Above+Beyond and Judge Jules are all playing it I hope something can be sorted out icon_wink.gif

Dancive.com - Finally to sum it all up, describe yourself in one word.
Mike Koglin - ... Busy icon_wink.gif

Dancive.com wishes you all the luck and keep rocking crowds all over the globe.
