Derek Howell - It`ll Gitchya Drunk (featuring remix by Interplay)

I'm willing to go out on a limb by betting that Derek Howell is probably the only Texas resident that can truthfully say he's released music for labels such as Global Underground, Bedrock, Hope Recordings, Proton Music, Fade Music, Morrison Recordings and Groovecollection.

Derek has built up quite a stunning resume over the past few years, and with due reason; the guy is an incredible talent, knowing no stylistic boundaries. After a string of releases (and many more to follow) on Polytechnic Recordings, Derek has made his return back to the illustrious Groovecollection Black imprint, with "It'll Gitchya Drunk."

Following a few releases, which seemed to receive mixed reviews across the board, this one is serious redemption for Derek, who in all fairness has no need to prove his production prowess to anyone. It'll Gitchya Drunk is a straight-forward progressive beast, which wastes no time getting to the point. The main synth hook is introduced quickly, and is supported by groovy chords and a dominating bassline. This one was sent into battle for use on the dancefloor, and it succeeds in it's mission with no opposition. Expect to be hearing this one for awhile, it's a winner.

On the flip side, Interplay adds more fuel to the fire with a superb remix. His interpretation is supported by a tight, buzzing bassline, giving it a slight electro twist, without venturing off into any fidgety noise. It's a tough call choosing between the two of these mixes, as they're both highly effective peak-hour gems. If you're into a more straight-forward sound, you're going to opt for the original. However, if you like some grit with your toast, you're hitting repeat on the Interplay remix.

As a label that chooses to go with a quality over quantity motif, it's a fairly safe bet to say that mostly everything Groovecollection Black puts out is going to be of high quality - and this one simply reaffirms that theory.
