Sean Biddle - My Thang Volume 2 (Red Session Records)
Release Date: November 29th, 2007
Reviewed: 7/10
User Rating: 4.5/5

Personally I love the emergence of real guitars (or really good synth emulations) in dance music and this is proof of that. This is another concise release, a defining EP showcasing the style of Sean Biddle.

An edgy groover, Chitown Thang maintains a balance that is key to it's success. It doesn't get old, it's influential roots in common chicago house being quite obvious. The edgy guitar keeps this track on it's solid groove.

The 9-5 Thang knows whats going on. Keeping it working that house groove is key for the hardcore house heads and this one nails it. With a simple but effective bassline groove, counting on the upper synth giving it's qualitative rhythm, it maintains and keeps a current structure. Add that punchy chitown like kick drum and you've got the equation.

Halfsteppin' Thang tries retain the groove of it's cousins, but ends up remaining quite on it's own repetitive -- stuck in a high pass filter and not going much elsewhere. All it needs now is some backspins and half cuts.

Overall this is a solid release showcasing the production talent of newcomer Sean Biddle. The solid house influence is obvious and this should appease most house heads, whether they are into prog or not, or just dedicated grooving house music.
