Sam Fraser - The Square One EP (Proton Music)
Release Date: January 31st, 2008
Reviewed: 5/5
User Rating: 4.0/5

This is another incredible release from Proton Music. Sam Fraser is probably quite a modest fellow, but with huge production talents that are not to be missed. This EP is quite a great find on the search for top quality modern progressive today.

Sleep On It is a tech-y rolling progressive house type track with great feel and a really groovy flow. This is the type of quality that just makes you want to bounce, and makes a DJ go hmmmm, nice! This fits in well into great grooving at home house sets, and placement on really groovy dance floors.

Tomfoolery takes in a notch back to provide acid line infused tech house with a syncopated kick-snare groove and dark demanding bassline. This is the type of track that absolutely begs to be layered and filtered. That acid synth line takes the lead and fits superbly well among the other very complex structured elements in this top quality and great sounding release. No tomfoolery on this one.

Little White Lies is even further notch back into an integrated syncopated minimalistic like beat structure. The creative bass line makes this track go on it's own and is quite unique. However it's the weakest of this EP and overall is quite bland comparative to the others, although very well produced mixed and mastered.

Overall this is a top quality release from another rising new producer talent and these tracks will fit nicely and very groovily into any modern prog / house play list.
