Davis & May - Motion (Proton Music)
Release Date: April 8th, 2008
Reviewed: 4/5
User Rating: 3.5/5

Proton brings us "Motion" by Davis and May

"Clouds pass" introduces us, and it shapes up to an interested blend of soft sweeping background with a bitey little lead coming through. A simple octave riff works to tie the production together, more ambient then peak time.

"Positron" comes in with more dance flavour, it chimes in a way to build a real energy, some nice filtering but all in all it has energy and sends out a message to move. Has some nice resonants this and the high bassy sound throws in the odd note surprise or two.

"Elementarmagnet" gets dark and this one has an old German techno sound to it, might be the sort of track to end the set heavily.

Proton really know how to throw a surprise or too an interesting track order, I wouldn’t of expected this to kick in first still, the pack glides progressively through.

Davis and May do have my attention, their blend of dark to more ambient melody is something I haven’t heard for a while and they offer a look back to earlier forms of these releases :)
