Soliquid - Piknic Bugz

Renaissance-Digital's latest release comes from Hungarian producer Soliquid aka David Biczok. At 23 years of age this fresh face on the scene is making some noise with some top drawer tracks and remixes including this one, Piknic Bugz, both mixes of which have been picked up by Digweed for Transitions 4.
The Original mix starts off with standard tech house grooves but soon after the mood turns. Angry , warbling synthlines take over from here and it’s as if the queen’s been disturbed , the bugz are on the move , mangalating , glitching and chomping their way through a dirty , dark vibe . Ear grinding melodies stab out from the mix , stripping back for the breakdown and shifting sideways to something dreamier but don’t be fooled for a second because once the reward follows it’s full on , heads down and gritty dancefloor material .
The Gone wild mix is a jazzier affair complete with another head melting collection of sounds. The stabby synthlines begin to squelch , glide and bleed into a contortionated state with cuts, tweaks and groaning fx chop up the motion but at every step the pressure raises and we get controlled even further by its message.
Soliquid’s sound is hard to pin down. It’s not quite tech, prog , minimal or electro but has elements from everything stitched together with precision and cleanliness. If you’re looking for something to make an impact then this release is for you to have in your bag.
