Chris Cargo & Paco Buggin - To the Beat (Hiddenform)
Release Date: July 28th, 2008
Reviewed: 4/5

With two heavy hitting releases and a mix from Chable and Bonnici under it’s belt this new Australian imprint is back having hooked in with a new distributor since the sad demise of Amato. This third offering re-affirms their position as a label to watch as Hiddenform serves up a double portion of rolling, chunky tech-house from Chris Cargo and Paco Buggin.

To the Beat gets down with some catchy tech house beats and tribal flavour to start things off, along with some familiar but tweaked out vocals leading into the main part of the track. The pace is continuously groovin’ as layered stabs spit out the body moving melody to get feet shuffling.

On the flip side is Messages, which pushes all the right buttons. Its deep and angry percussion compacts a crunchy vibe while a combination of dirty rhythms and bouncy synth-lines rotate about the mix. Once the break is in effect, threatening vocals take matters into their own hands and slice through the mood bullying us into submission.

This release isn’t rocket science or brain surgery but who cares? Both tracks are solid as concrete and can be used to deliver their message at any point in set and be damn effective on any dancefloor.
