Danny Tenaglia - The Space Dance
(Tommy Boy)
Release Date: June 3rd, 2008
Reviewed: 4.5/5
User Rating: 4.5/5
In case you missed it… early June saw the release of Danny Tenaglia’s The Space Dance out on Tommy Boy’s “Silver Label” imprint. His first new release in four years, The Space Dance serves as forerunner to Tenaglia’s new mix compilation, “Futurism,” released last week.
Packin’ decent energy and a futuristic sound selection, the main theme is a mangled bell-type synth overlaying a chunky, jackin’ house beat while robotic echoes and space themed samples race past. The Main Room Dubstrumental lives up to its title as a big-floor, peak-time rocker omitting the vocals, while the Terrace Edit is severely truncated to get the job done in less than 3 and a half minutes. Conversely, the Terrace Vocalism Mix version adds in more of the robotic chanting vocal near the breakdown and outro, clocking in at close to 9 minutes in length. Not much variety in sound between the three versions, but I expect remixes to follow at a later date.
I’m not sure what the low-key robo-chanting vocal is talking about, but it sure sounds cool. And for all you old schoolers out there, The Space Dance is scheduled for vinyl release August 19th.
