Josh Gabriel - Tone Program (Different Pieces)
Release Date: September 4th, 2008
Reviewed: 4.5/5

Different Pieces is the brand new label headed by Josh Gabriel. As one half of Gabriel & Dresden, massive notoriety was gained for a unique sound that pushed boundaries and got people talking more than ever in heated debate. It seems with this new project from Gabriel the effect is going to be intensified as he heads up the first release with "Tone Program".

The Original mix is a bit of a stormer with all the right pieces in place to make you want to shake. It’s subtly pounding with maximum effect provided by jaggedly tight melodies that stab out from the mix. The break takes it peak in ‘smiles on faces mode’ but the reward gives just satisfaction with some warped happiness for extra results. It's minimal meets prog, meets trance, but that’s kind of irrelevant, if there’s one track you must have for stepping up the pace in your set then this is it.

On the remix is Style Of Eye who doesn’t really hang about. With essences of the original he lays down one hell of a massive sound. What begins as minimal ends up raising the roof with such an impact that you cant help but want to listen again. It builds and builds from start to finish and serves up the crescendo of all crescendos in the break.

As first releases go, it couldn’t be bigger than this. Both original and SOE remix should be firmly placed in you record bag to have close at hand when adrenalizing the mood.
