Phil Thompson - Free Your Body Baby & Ripples (Erase)
Release Date:
Reviewed: 7/10

Phil Thompson is perhaps best known for his work as Moonface, the moniker under which he has had five single releases and an album on Bedrock, as well as his sterling work as the warm up DJ at Bedrock events in the UK. He provides the material for Erase’s seventh release.

Free of his Moonface moniker, Phil Thomson delves into techno territory with both these tracks. First up is ‘Free Your Body Baby’, which despite the dreadful title, is a more than respectable tune. The track, in particular the vocal, may grate on some progressive ears but the melody is effective and infectious. It’s hard not to try and imagine devastation this track would cause given a progressive makeover. For a techno fan however, this could prove to be a real winner on the dancefloor.

‘Ripples’ continues in a similar vein as ‘Free Your Body Baby’, which also nods in the direction of both the techno and progressive influences. Again, a decent enough track that will add an extra dimension to sets.

Erase continue to push new and innovative sounds and Phil Thompson proves he is more than equal to the task. Not your normal progressive release by any means but worth checking out.
