Amsterdam’s Jason Lanox just recently dropped us this dope 2 tracker, Bellalyka/The Getaway, courtesy of Deep Records.
Bellalyka comes from a unique angle; you can tell the sound selection is well thought out, and the melody is indeed on the bizarre end of the spectrum. The tune is structured nicely in tech house fashion early on, while using more protracted progressive phrases later, and when it drops in, the tune brings an excellent driving groove, with its humpy bass, subtle dubbed out atmospherics and a slick bell percussion melody, with some Russian flavor. Very cool.
The Getaway is a deeper, tech house affair with a haunting synth sax for the lead melody, some nice little tech pops, snappy percussion, and pitch shifting rides, providing a discernable bumpin groove. As per techno vocal standard, you’ve got a pitched down, spoken-word snip utterance to which the title refers.
A little different, a little out there, but definite quality, and I take it that is what Holland’s Deep Records is all about.
