Ryan Davis - Clouds Passing By (Proton Music)
This past spring, Proton Music released Ryan Davis's "Clouds Passing By," a stunning progressive/techno fusion that received support from major players across the world, including Sasha. To end the summer of '08 on a very high note, Proton introduces a stunning remix package, that covers many different styles; from progressive to twisted after-hours techno. "Clouds Passing By" is not your everyday remix pack... this is certainly something worth talking about (and dancing to!).

The Eelke Kleijn Remix is progressive house at it's best. In my honest opinion, this is one of the best remixes I've heard all year. Eelke adds a dark and rumbling bassline, and a simply amazing synth line that bounces, twists and twirls it's way through the crystal-clear kick drum and leaves you speechless. Extreme attention to detail is wildly evident here, and this is a must-have for any progressive house lover, or DJ.

The Moonbeam Remix is another great progressive tune, that immediately grabs the listener's attention by using Davis' original dreamy synth leads to set the theme. Things pick up quickly, however; when a driving, deep bassline is added to the picture. It could fit anywhere in a set, and should appeal to anyone who loves melodic progressive house.

Alt Fresner's Remix is a step in a different direction; as he uses more techno-infused elements to get his message across. A quirky and bouncy synth leads things off, which is later complimented by a dark and powerful bassline, tons of effects, bells and whistles. This was a stunning 9-minute joyride into musical heaven.

Caleb's Elementary Particles Remix is yet another progressive gem, that's very soothing to the ear, and well organized. Would make for a great warm-up piece, as it builds very nicely.

Lenny Mays Homecoming Trip is most definitely a trip. Mays uses a wide array of experimental-type synth lines, stabs and bleeps, and is quite interesting to listen to. Not quite as dancefloor-friendly, but it's perfect sick and twisted after-hours material.

The Somfay's Daybreak Musing Temperament Remix has a dark and haunting feel, which makes one feel as if they are walking through a haunted mansion on Halloween. The intro is perfect!

Kudos go out to Proton for doing such an excellent job at choosing the remixers for this great remix package. All the artists were able to make "Cloud Passing By" their own; resulting in a very diverse and balanced package, filled with quality music.
