Jem Haynes - The Altitude EP
(Fat! Records)
Release Date: September 10th, 2008
Reviewed: 3.5/5

Usually known for breaks, Fat! Records (no doubt you've heard of their "Chew the Fat" nights in the UK) is new here at ProgHouse™ to bring us their latest release Jem Haynes and "The Altitude EP"
Agogo opens the EP and it's a mover. The bassline takes control and we are treated to an array of sound. Some nice sounds loop around in the background including some vocal. A simple yet effective tune.
Prophet follows, the beat shuffles and voice-overs come in, then sweeps alert you to the track going into the main flow. At the half way point this baby really begins to chime.
The birds is next, it gets off to a straight forward dance beat and sweeps into break down, Metallic clavs enter in a subtle manner providing the melody while some nicely cut up sounds float in the background.
The tiger comes for tea has the TB303 sound as its drive, that coupled with analogue bits and pieces complete this number. Some unconventional patterns here, offering a more retro-electronic sound.
