Federico Epis - Sensations Remixed (featuring remixes from Makotrax, Ciprian Lemnaru, Laxa & SMD, Silviu Paduraru) (friskyRecords)
Release Date: September 17th, 2008
Reviewed: 4/5
User Rating: 4.1/5

Frisky Records latest is their competition winning remixes of Federico Epis "Sensations", which earned quite a bit of support the first time around. The drift of the original was like floating on a warm lake, as soft breeze washes over you.

The Makotrax Remix starts by drifting along the original line, but then takes it up a notch and adds a more upfront melody, featuring sparse injections of a fresh sound as the original sound sweeps softly in the background.

Ciprian Lemnaru Remix adds a little more swing, the sound is more basement then superclub and could well serve those that appreciate the music digging a little deeper. It comes with a moderate level of pluck to it but not as upfront as you might be used to hearing.

Laxa and S.M.D. Remix cuts straight in without messing about at the most recognizable part of the track before sending it out in a completely different direction. Quite hitting, with a Latin flavour on it. There's definitely a Mediterranean sound about this, yet it might be suited more to the afterparty.

The Silviu Paduraru Remix goes a little more progressive, as this moves into the realms of a higher energy track. You will hear most of the original here, yet this comes with a character all its own, quite different in fact.

"Ciprian Lemnaru puts the "tech" in technology with his remix of Federico Epis' "sensations. Makotrax remix lightens things up a bit by twiddling a trance hook over a throbbing simple-delay bassline." - 3.5 / 5
