Android Cartel - Pleasure Planet (featuring remixes by Bitfiend, Shiloh)
(Polytechnic Recordings)
Release Date: September 23rd, 2008

Polytechnics have gone a long way in the last year and many of their releases have seen some big names on board. Android Cartel has too, since attention turned towards them in a big way, deservedly so and in this release they bring us "Pleasure Planet." This brings together a fresh breed of dance with a format that we have heard and enjoyed for quite a while.
The Original mix takes off to the kind of start you can only imagine from our Android friends. The style, although falling into electro/tech still keeps their very exclusive sound. The way this tune manages to kind of roll the groove can be a real floor mover.
Bitfiend's Remix is totally in his own making, as he continues to push boundaries of style with his overall sound and somehow manages to inject a retro synth style into his mix which comes exclusively from his music. Somewhat like a retro action show theme from TV.
The Shiloh mix totally took me by surprise, and it has found a prime position in my choice tunes and features some all new parts thrown in. I have a feeling this might cause discomfort with the electro hardnuts, yet to me the coming together of such styles is a beautiful thing and hopefully we will see more of this in future releases!
Polytechnic continues to reach out and seems unafraid to push against the grain with their release choices.

"The Original mix is pretty happening, the Bitfiend remix picks it up a bit, and the Shiloh took me some getting used to but now when I listen I can't wait to hear the big "let's take out our lighters and wave our hands in the air and chant at the DJ booth" break followed by an excellent buildup. Very good release." - 4.5 / 5
