Thee-O - Techlife (featuring remix by Facundo Mohrr) (Quimika Records)
Release Date: September 23rd, 2008
Reviewed: 3.5/5
User Rating: 3.7/5

DJ Thee-O is well known in his native California, as well as across much of the Americas. Recently his production output could be likened to Dan Marino's touchdown count in the 1980s i.e. prolific! Thee-O has been reeling off productions thick and fast, expanding his profile far beyond just the Americas in this digital age.

His latest production, "Techlife," finds itself released on Federico Giust's Quimika imprint. This South American label is based in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo, and is a year into its existence. "Techlife" is due for release on 23rd September and is release number 13. If this pattern is to be typical of Quimika's output, then 1 release a month is a sensible ratio for sure. Now onto the music....

There are 2 mixes available in the package, the original and a Facundo Mohrr remix. The original is an evil tech house number that rolls along gaining energy and venom by the second. Definitely something to unleash on a unsuspecting dancefloor, or to add emphasis on a sequence of frenzied tech stompers! The Facundo Mohrr remix is a chunkier version with a wider bass drum, strings and an added house flavour to it. Definitely a subtle difference to the original can be spotted.

All in all a solid package from what looks like a solid label, two good mixes to cover club and radio audiences. Perhaps one more mix in the package would added some more value to proceedings, but with more Thee-O releases in the pipeline, there will be a chance to grab some more of his gear very soon.
