Fulcrum - Sovereign EP
(Segment records)
Release Date: September 22nd, 2008

Segment Records is the brainchild of Manchester, UK based DJ/producer Matt Black. Fulcrum is Gavin Martin, based in Australia and steady gaining momentum with his particular style of twisted progressive spacey grooves. This release contains 3 tracks in EP format, something which definitely bodes well.
The first track entitled Sovereign is a nice progressive cruiser with smooth drums and bleepy accompaniment. Definitely something to slot into a radio set or hold the dancefloor.
Second up is Still Point, a growling progressive number which evolves gaining energy as it goes - definitely another really cool track and very flexible. Nice breakdown too - dancefloor will love that for sure!
The final track Transition is an eerie progressive house and breaks hybrid, which really hits the spot. Some lovely atmospherics coupled with what I'd call a surround sound bassline makes the track float along. Definitely a contender for track of the EP in my opinion.
Segment Records has been around for a number of years, and this is one of my favourite releases from the imprint. 3 really cool tracks, and the stand out being "Transition" with "Still Point" not far behind - good job guys!
