Outside the Box is the label of the Dutch prog master Eelke Kleijn, and since its inception in 2006 has released forward thinking progressive music for those cooler dancefloors. This 3 track EP comes from the Irish artist Stephen Hogg, and is definitely in a deep melodic progressive vibe. Trauma is a warm progressive number with shiny pads, strings, and atmospherics. A solid bassline provides a good basis for the track too. Quality atmospherics from the Dubliner Hogg. Following on from that is track two, entitled Nightvision, which is slightly less dynamic than Trauma, but is a good track in its own right with some nice bleeps and rising chords. Something definitely suited for an internet radio mix set. Third and by no means last, Colour of Love opens up with some warm beatless chords, so this track could easily be slotted in as a set opener, or to change vibe mid set. Again, atmospheric and well composed, this could be the best track of the pack. In summary, this take on chilled melodic progressive really hits the mark. 3 good tracks and an established label to release them on, definitely a quality package.
