Oliver Morgenroth - Jet Stream (featuring remixes by Royal Sapien, Retroid, Kintar, Marcelo Vasami)

German label Jetlag Digital puts forward this new 5 track "Jet Stream" EP, with plenty of character, from producer & live-act hybrid, Oliver Morgenroth.
Jet Stream starts with a dark and funky, live breaks approach. This is the attitude and it's fresh, long gone are digital melodies, you are entering amazon terrain. In fact, glimpses of melody approach for the conclusion, almost saved then forgotten. Still this being said, a tribal and housey sound selection with progressive undertones could be something for the future.
Royal Sapien kicks with a similar tone at intro, yet the bass comes in distinctly reminiscent of those carefully crafted basslines of the past and quite frankly, has it! You really gotta get a hold of this kinda production because it's bordering on perfection, funny thing is it doesn't sound like that much is going on; still, so missed is this type of bass, that many will probably love it anyway.
On Retroid's Deep Mix, we are talking liquid metallic, before the real drive and theme sweeps behind like a cool breeze. As this begins to build, a lesson into the original format of progressive this becomes. The chord structure is somewhat darker here, but he has the real oomph for the dancefloor when the kick drops in.
Kintar's Darker Mix is right back up the Amazon, it reminds me somewhat of early Spooky remix work as the whole thing is so carefully and cleverly constructed. The pipes drift through sweetly before a cinematic drive takes affect, voices drifting pass your ears and loads of drama.
Marcelo Vasami's Remix starts off quite straight forward, before the bass steps in, quite literally, then later fusing with a more metallic rhythm and a little melodic jam. This has a sound of a rotating speaker to it at certain points, so by the time the beat drops back in, we have a full picture of the tune - dark and edgy with attitude.
