Pablo Barboza - Deep Revolution (featuring remix by Filter Cutz) (Quimika Records)
Release Date: October 7th, 2008
Reviewed: 4/5
User Rating: 3.7/5

Certainly not a newcomer to the industry, Pablo Barboza is at it again with another stunning release of solid progressive sounds to make your midnight mix at the local posh joint truly one to remember. The fairly new Uruguay-based Quimika Records does itself justice by tapping Barboza's hometown talent for their quality house music label that has found support from the likes of Cattaneo, Anthony Pappa, Pako & Frederik and Nicholas Van Orton to name a few.

Deep Revolution begins just like you would imagine. A deep house beat accompanied by upper-octave synths give you a perfect minute of mix time so as to transition smoothly out of your previous track. Immediately following the intro, the first of a few series of basslines makes sure the crowd gets sassy before interest wanes. A jogging arpeggiated hook begins to toggle across increasingly saturated synthesized landscapes while an uplifting vocal sample gets the hands up in anticipation for the next moment of bliss. A sense of musical structure is apparent as Barboza patiently pieces the groove back into place one solid step at a time. Seemingly endless but without overdoing the elements involved, Deep Revolution is an instant classic for deep progressive fans the world over.

Friend and fellow Uruguay native Filter Cutz takes his remix of Deep Revolution on a slightly more electro tinged progressive house trip for your peak set pleasure. Having only been producing for 4 years, Filter Cutz shows why he's not to be overlooked as a name to remember on his most recent remix of Barboza's work. A bamboo-like percussion accentuates emotion while remaining true to the deep rhythm of the original mix.

Hopefully this newfound partnership between Quimika Records and Pablo Barboza won't be the last. Surely their steadfast love and devotion for the progressive underground will bring many a new fan, as well as convert those non-believers into supporters for life. Talent and dedication of this nature is sure to be unstoppable.
