Yvel & Tristan Feat. Chriss of The Quasar - A Miracle Man (Featuring remixes by Stan Kolev + Trandel) (Ready Mix Records)
Release Date: October 15th, 2008
Reviewed: 4.5/5
User Rating: 4.0/5

Yvel & Tristan have always kept themselves on the tip of the progressive movement and their new release "A Miracle Man" feat Chris of The Quasar is no exception. The dynamic duo from Budapest have been snatched up by Montreal's lucrative Ready Mix Records for a tune that encompasses the cross-country driving appeal of deep progressive house music. Becoming such talented producers in just 6 short years requires the knowledge of how and where to appropriately place textures within a soundscape. With a reputation for professionalism and an ear for detail, it's no wonder they've been chosen yet again by the world renowned Global Underground mix series to appear on Nick Warren's most recent outing in the Peruvian city of Lima.

The original mix starts off simple enough with a shimmy-shimmy reverse hi-hat and lightly echoed atmospherics. A slow building pad and dreamy keys begin to push your head into the clouds while a non-intrusive bassline gives just enough lows to make you tap your hand on the steering wheel in time to the rhythm. Ethereal xylophone riffs taunt across a simple vocal snippet. Shortly thereafter, a soothing eastern chant calms the beast while ethnic vibes fiddle melodically into oblivion.

The deeply respected Stan Kolev brings his Bulgarian roots into clear view with his remix of A Miracle Man. Destined for the tech and minimal prog playlists, Stan doesn't disappoint by making things interesting right off the bat. Barely a minute in he drops the sweeping synths and increases the vocal chant for maximum goosebump appeal. With the swing button tweaked a touch more than the original, Kolev never fails to strip down to the most essential pieces of the track without putting the personal touch somewhere within it's confines. A major highlight comes more than halfway through when he slices the chant to a few simple bits and injects them directly to the brain. SOLID!

Trandel's remix goes in a much different direction than the first two by arranging an almost 2/4 break as the beat structure for this very emotional cut. With a direct aim at the heart, Trandel's stripped down version of A Miracle Man does very little to re-present the original, which can go either way depending on the listening audience. Sure to be an absolute favorite for chill and ambient progressive fans, a double time spliced synth travels effortlessly across a lush digital landscape of pads while a somber string section tells their tale of woe. Certainly a decent selection to reminisce over troubled affairs of the past and yearn for the beautiful ones to come.

Ready Mix Records has been captivating the senses for almost a decade and is sure to stay on track with Yvel & Tristan's "A Miracle Man." To all parties involved, keep it coming!
