Polytechnic's work rate of late has been huge, with release after release, yet there are definitely some quality tunes in there too. Here with the "Need Control EP" they introduce us to Yura Popov, who kicked off his musical career in the late nineties and it doesn't seem short of top tunage. This is not the first time we've seen a Russian conquer progressive and the title track is another example of this. The tune glides into action with some nice accents on the lead arrangement. It has a pleasant and quite subtle build

This past spring, Proton Music released Ryan Davis's "Clouds Passing By," a stunning progressive/techno fusion that received support from major players across the world, including Sasha. To end the summer of '08 on a very high note, Proton introduces a stunning remix package, that covers many different styles; from progressive to twisted after-hours techno. "Clouds Passing By" is not your everyday remix pack... this is certainly something worth talking about (and dancing to!). The Eelke Kleijn

Australia’s up and coming progressive label, Open Records unleashes this pack of promising tech and prog tunes from Melbourne’s Gavin Martin, aka GMJ, with a great rework by French producer, D-Sens, via the “Torgant EP.”On the A side, Torgant’s sound selection didn’t really pique my interest and the track could use some more production tricks (e.g. delays, drum fills, filter sweeps) to break it up, as it’s a little monotonous. Although, I did like the Vector remix by GMJ’s alter ego,

MOS, aka Manuel Sofia, from BA Argentina, has been at the forefront of the progressive-tech revolution since its explosion into the mainstream these past several years. His trademark fusion of slick, tight, and stripped down tech-house percussion & bass paired with beautiful and sometimes sweeping melodies has tagged him as one of the most relevant and innovative producers of progressive music in the industry. This also marks the third release from new-comers Vibrating Balance which was founded in Sydney, Australia by Jason Low

Different Pieces is the brand new label headed by Josh Gabriel. As one half of Gabriel & Dresden, massive notoriety was gained for a unique sound that pushed boundaries and got people talking more than ever in heated debate. It seems with this new project from Gabriel the effect is going to be intensified as he heads up the first release with "Tone Program". The Original mix is a bit of a stormer with all the right pieces in place to make you want to shake. It’s subtly pounding with maximum effect provided by jagge

Proton Music is definitely producing an array of great music of different styles and this one caught my attention. Respected Australian DJ Matt Rowan seems to be a busy man, both on release and remix work. This is his latest offering "Self Inflicted / Hot Steppin"Starting with a Self Inflicted remix by musical colleague, Jaytech, this hits into action hard! The groove is quite something, plenty of atmosphere and a hint of aggression, which carries on a beat that shouts, "get ready!" The song has real drift

2007 is remembered by most progressive house lovers as the year Toronto took over. At the forefront of this new sound emerging from the north was Glenn Morrison, who released 3 monster hits; "Contact", "No Sudden Moves" and "Cosmic Flight". It's now a year later, and Glenn is proving his strong staying power, as he joins Dave Seaman's imprint, Audio Therapy; for their milestone 50th release. This is "Glenn Morrison- Finally -AT050"When you hit play on a Glenn Morrison tune, you know he

Any way you slice it, Australia’s Beef Records, serves up some tasty prime cuts here, a la Parisian duo Solead’s new ”Serpent” EP, featuring remixes by Boris Brejcha and Deepchild. Reaching #1 on the MyPromoPool™ chart this week, ”Serpent” is one slab of hot techy beats and proggy synth vibes not to be overlooked. Serpent (Original) dishes up amazing snappy, minimal tech-house percussion, laying down a groovy, bumping foundation, while restrained melodic elements and filtered synths pro

DJ Marcus first got on the decks in 2001 while residing in Austin, TX. He quickly became a regular in the Austin afterhours scene playing 4-6 hour sets. The afterhours scene begged for dark progressive house which is where he got his style.
This mix might make you think you're driving through midnight.

Unless you have been incarcerated since the late nineties you may have heard of Bedrock records, probably the most widely recognised label on the progressive scene and more recently showing their penchant for pure underground music by reaching out further from just one sound. This is no more evident than with this double header from Christian Smith. Smith, more known in Techno circles, has put out some big tracks in the last year, notably ‘Transit Time’ on Sino and ‘Total Departure’ on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode label (

Amsterdam’s Jason Lanox just recently dropped us this dope 2 tracker, Bellalyka/The Getaway, courtesy of Deep Records. Bellalyka comes from a unique angle; you can tell the sound selection is well thought out, and the melody is indeed on the bizarre end of the spectrum. The tune is structured nicely in tech house fashion early on, while using more protracted progressive phrases later, and when it drops in, the tune brings an excellent driving groove, with its humpy bass, subtle dubbed out atmospherics and a

Citric Recordings brings on it's third release; this one coming from longtime New York DJ turned producer, Rami Deejay. Sinister Habit is a well crafted tech tune, filled with filtered & reverbed percussion, bells and snares. It has a very clean sound to it, and builds very nicely. Things progress up to an epic climax toward the end, which makes 'Sinister Habit' a perfect piece for building a set. While not quite peak-hour material, this one is definitely groovy enough to get people moving, and it's well-mastered;
